Poems and Prose #73 - Nominal

Congruency suggests
that these items are the same,
but tear away the skin
and you'll see sameness just in name,
for the muscles and organs
and interstitial tissue are ordained
to carry out the whims
of a lifetime's worth of aims.

Now, myself,
I think it's a damned, God-awful shame
to measure a placard
by the wall on which it hangs.
